Do you enjoy craft cider? Craft cider is traditional drink that is made in small batches for the enjoyment of friends and family. However, like many traditionally homemade products, the art of making craft cider is slowly dying as not many people are willing to go through the laborious process. Alchema is a new product that is designed to bring back craft cider to the home by making the whole process as simple as possible.
Cider, like wine, is made using the fermentation process. Alchema makes the entire fermentation an idiot proof process. All you have to do is pick a recipe from the accompanying app (or create your own recipe), place the ingredients into the container, add yeast and let Alchema do the rest. It even ensures that there is no contamination by automatically sterilizing the container prior to brewing. It takes about one to two weeks of fermentation and you are ready to enjoy your very own craft cider. In fact, the waiting is probably the most difficult part of the entire process. It will even inform you via the app when your cider is ready.
Compared to the traditional method of using cider kit, Alchema is safer as it uses UV light instead of chemicals that may leave residue are not used for sanitization. There is also no danger of an explosion if there is a rapid build up of fermentation gases as it has a air pressure sensor and an automatic release valve. With Alchema, you don’t have to constantly check on the cider to make sure it is ready as it has sensors that check on the alcohol level. You will get a notification once it is ready as it has built-in WiFi. Brewing your own craft cider couldn’t be simpler.
If you are willing to wait up to 4 months or longer, you can even create your own wine.
If you are interested in crafting your own cider with the Alchema smart brewer, head on over to their Kickstarter campaign page and pledge to receive one as a reward. At time of posting, the campaign has already raised more than $200,000 and has almost tripled its funding goal.
