The Asset Minimalist Smart Wallet by LionNFC combines a minimalist wallet with a couple of NFC chips to add smart features to the wallet. It is based on the popular thin wallet design of two sheets of thin aluminum plates held together with an elastic band. However, it also incorporates some fine touches that enhances the design and ease of use of the wallet.
An NFC smart chip is embedded inside each of the two aluminum plates. The NFC chips can be programmed to perform a wide variety of automated tasks when it comes in touch contact with a smartphone with NFC support. For example, you can switch your phone to driving mode by tapping your phone to the Asset wallet every time you get into your car. Or you can turn on the phone’s silent mode. Just tap the phone just before you enter a meeting. The NFC chips are also reprogrammable.
The aluminum plates also have the additional function of providing RFID protection against identity theft. Each plate is only 3.5 mm thin and weighs just 1.40 oz.
The double plate and elastic band design is a popular design because it provides storage flexibility. You can store a couple of cards or you can store 10 cards plus a wad of cash and the wallet will hold its contents securely. No matter how many cards and how much cash you store, the Asset wallet will always be a whole lot thinner than your existing fat wallet. Elastic bands do tend to lose their elasticity after awhile so LionNFC has got that covered by throwing in 2 bands with each wallet. If you are really paranoid, you can buy additional bands at $2 each.
The Asset Minimalist Smart Wallet has beveled edges that guides in your cards as you insert them. The hexagonal cut-outs at both ends makes sliding out the cards a simple task with just the push of a finger.
If you are interested in getting an Asset wallet of your own, just head on over to their Kickstarter page and pledge your support to help LionNFC make this project a reality.
