The iPort LaunchPort is an inductive charging system for the Apple iPads. While inductive or wireless charging has been available for quite a number of Android and Windows smartphones like the Google Nexus 5 and the Lumia 920, none of the Apple mobile devices has this feature. If you are envious of your Android and Windows brethren, you can add wireless charging capability to your iPad with the iPort LaunchPort for iPad.
The system consists of a special charging sleeve for the iPad and well as a charging station. LaunchPort sleeves are available for the iPad 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation and the iPad Mini. There are also two different charging stations available. The iPort LaunchPort WallStation lets you charge and mount your iPad on the wall while iPort LaunchPort BaseStation is a desktop charging station. Both charging stations are compatible with all the LaunchPort sleeves.
The LaunchPort sleeves add more than just wireless charging capabilities to the iPad. There is a wave-guide feature that helps to redirect speaker audio to the user. Secondly, the same magnets that are used for mounting the sleeve to the charging station can also be used to mount the iPad securely to any metal surface such as the refrigerator for example.
