At the recent 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, Land Rover released their new version of the Land Rover Defender. Most of us can only dream of owning such a vehicle. However, fret not, as Lego has us poor drooling and dreaming folks covered. Working with Land Rover, Lego has released the Lego Land Rover Defender, their Technic version of the real vehicle.
The Lego Land Rover Defender set is one of the most technically advanced as well as one of the biggest sets Lego has released this year. Numbered 42110, this building kit has 2,573 pieces. Size wise, when fully assembled, it measures over 8” (22cm) high, 16” (42cm) long and 7” (20cm) wide.
It captures the Land Rover’s iconic and instantly recognisable silhouette perfectly. But that is just on the outside. On the inside, the Lego Land Rover Defender has the most complicated gearbox ever put into a Lego kit. As hinted above, the gearbox has both low and high range, selectable via a lever inside the cockpit. A separate lever lets you select the gears while in either range.
Other features that may interest the Lego enthusiast include special body part panels, authentic rims, a working winch on the front bumper and an in-line six-cylinder engine.
