The power bank has become an essential gadget for many of us as our gadgets get more powerful and more power hungry with each new generation. However the power bank is only useful if you have it with you. Most power banks are bulky and heavy and unless you are sure that you need one, you won’t carry one along. The designers of the LithiumCard is well aware of this limitation of the power bank and have decided to come up with a power bank design that is extremely portable and fits in your wallet but yet pack a 1200 mAh rechargeable battery.
Of course, the LithiumCard is not the first extremely portable power bank to come along. We have featured the key-chain sized Morphie Juice Pack Reserve and the credit card sized PowerCard on GetdatGadget. However, the Juice Pack Reserve only has a 750 mAh battery and the PowerCard has an even smaller 500 mAh battery. Alternatively, there is the 2,100 mAh Juice Pak Plus that incorporates the power bank as part of the phone casing but this does add significantly more bulk to the phone.
The LithiumCard on the other hand is a nice compromise between the 2 types of portable chargers. It has a significantly larger 1,200 mAh battery that should give almost a full charge on most phones but yet at the same time, it is small enough to fit in your wallet. It measures 54 x 86 mm which is about the size of a credit card and a thickness of 5.5 mm which is about 5 credit cards thick. Granted, it is thicker than the PowerCard but the LithiumCard offers much more charging power for slightly more bulk.
The LithiumCard also works as a pass through cable allowing you to charge your phone and the LithiumCard at the same time. The charger’s high 2.1 A lets you charge much faster compared with the more common 1 A chargers. Depending on the actual phone, it can charge as fast as 1% per minute.
Another feature of the LithiumCard is that it does not require any additional cables. Both the micro USB cable for connecting to your device and the USB connector used for charging the LithiumCard itself are built into the charger itself. Quite an amazing feat considering the size of the charger. For iOS device users, the LithiumCard also comes in a Lightning connector version.
