Starting a fire is a challenging task even for an experienced outdoorsman if the conditions are not favorable. Wind, rain, sleet, snow and all kinds of poor weather can make things really difficult. The Pyro Putty is a type of fire starter in gooey form. It is really good and really helps in getting a fire going in harsh conditions.
What we liked about the Pyro Putty is its malleability and it can stick to anything, even wet wood. This is important because it allows you to make a mini torch and stick it into kindling to start a fire. A quarter sized ball will continue to burn up to 15 minutes giving you plenty of time to slowly grow the fire.
The putty also burns in extremely cold weather of -20 degrees Fahrenheit. It is fully waterproof and will even burn while floating on water.
Getting a fire going is almost a must in most outdoor survival situations. Starting a fire quickly also means more time for other camping activities such as cooking, setting up camp or just enjoying the experience.

The Pyro Putty comes in a small tin can that weighs just 2.2 oz. Throwing one of these into a bug out bag is a no-brainer. It is also non-toxic and doesn’t dry out. A can of the putty is sufficient to start up about 12 wet fires or 30 dry fires.
