We recently featured the RAVPower RP-WD01 WiFi SD Card and External HD Reader on GetdatGadget. This gadget is awesome as it has multiple functions including allowing your mobile devices like your smart phone and tablet to access additional storage via WiFi or for sharing files. However, the device is rather large and not really ideal for carrying around in your pocket for example. If all that you need is the wireless file sharing function, the SanDisk Connect 32GB Wireless Flash Drive is probably a more suitable gadget for you.
The SanDisk Connect 32GB Wireless Flash Drive looks like a slightly over-sized USB flash drive and it can function like one as well. However, it holds a few more tricks up its sleeves. Like the RAVPower RP-WD01, it has build-in WiFi that lets any mobile device with WiFi to connect to it wirelessly and access the 32 GB storage on the device. Actually the 32 GB storage is stored on the included 32 GB microSD card. If you want more or bigger storage, you can always swap out the included card.
It comes with a built-in rechargeable battery which means you can use the SanDisk Connect 32GB Wireless Flash Drive while on the go. On a full charge, the battery lasts for about 4 hours. That is more than enough time for you to watch 2 full movies streaming from the drive. To recharge it, just plug it into a USB port on a computer or use a wall charger. When plugged into a computer, the SanDisk Connect functions as a normal USB flash drive. Since it uses a normal USB port for charging, you can also connect the SanDisk Connect to a portable USB charger so you can keep on going beyond the rated 4 hours.
The SanDisk Connect 32GB Wireless Flash Drive can connect up to 8 devices simultaneously. The wireless connection should be fast enough to support up to 3 users video streaming at the same time. One great use is to use it for long family drives. Just load up the movies in the SanDisk Connect and the wife and 2 kids can each watch their own movies. Get a USB car charger and you don’t even have to worry about the drive running out of juice.
