When dark clouds above open up and the rain comes beating down on you relentlessly, all you have to do is open up the Sky Umbrella and you shall have blue skies with puffy white clouds above you. And all is right with the world again.
Designed by legendary graphic designer Tibor Kalman and Emanuela Frattini Magnusson, the Sky Umbrella was first introduced and sold at the MOMA Design Store back in 1992. On the outside, the Sky Umbrella looks just like any boring old black umbrella with a wooden handle. When opened up, the Sky Umbrella’s interior reveals a cheerful blue sky dotted with fluffy, white clouds.
The umbrella is made from sturdy nylon covering the photo-process-printed sky on polyester. It is built to withstand the worst that nature can throw at you and bring cheer in the gloomiest of weather.
