There are folding chairs and then there is the Treo Chair. The Treo Chair folds into its own base that is about the size of a 11 inch long cylindrical pack. Bringing along a comfortable chair on a camping trip is usually a luxury that most campers forego due to the extra space and weight that it takes up but with the Treo Chair, you can have a comfortable and relatively roomy chair in a tiny package that weighs about 2 lbs.
The most interesting feature of the Treo Chair is that the entire chair is packed inside a plastic cylinder which also doubles up as the tripod base of the chair. An advantage of this is that you don’t have to worry about misplacing the storage bag. Inside the cylinder are 4 collapsible 6000-series aluminum rods that act as the supporting frame for the ultra-strong nylon sling.
Assembling the Treo Chair requires no tools and can be fully assembled in under a minute. Just open up the container, set up the base, assemble the collapsible rods, stick them into the base and then stretch the sling over the four rods. Once assembled, the chair is very sturdy and will not collapse.
Unlike most portable camp chairs, the Treo Chair sits a full 13 inches off the ground making it real easy to get in and out of the chair. While the thin rods and the nylon sling don’t look like much but this collapsible chair is designed to support up to 250 lbs. Also for a portable chair, the back of the chair is quite high giving your back ample support.
